The Triumph TR3 will make the success and the fortune of the English manufacturer from 1955 to 1962.

In line with its predecessor the TR2, the TR3 is a logical evolution of the TR2 both aesthetically and mechanically. Produced from 1955 to 1962, the TR3 turns out to be a slightly reworked TR2, thus retaining all of its qualities without altering its design.

Externally, the bow evolves with an advanced radiator grille nicknamed “Egg box” or “egg box”, and steel fender seals instead of painted. Only a new badge on the engine cover completes the identification.

On the stern, the trunk hinges are chromed and unpainted. New options such as the fiberglass hard top and an occasional rear seat for a third person complete the evolution of the range.

Despite few changes, the TR3 confirms an obvious commercial success. Engine power gains 5 hp over the TR2 thanks to twin SU carburettors, increasing power to almost 95 hp. Flexibility of the engine, vivacity at low revs and melodious sound, its qualities are obvious.

It will be the first sports car on the market to be fitted as standard with front disc brakes. The TR3 A is a slight evolution of the TR3 with exterior door handles, an enlarged grille and less prominent headlights.
