The Porsche 911 was developed to replace the much more powerful, larger and more comfortable Porsche 356. The new car made its public debut in 1963, at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Originally referred to as “Porsche 901”, according to its internal project number. However, Peugeot protested on the grounds that in France it had exclusive rights to car names formed of three digits with a zero in the middle. So instead of selling the new model under another name in France, Porsche changed the name to 911. It went on sale in 1964.
It was in 1970 that the engines of all 911s were increased to 2195cc. Outputs have been increased to 125 hp in the 911T, 155 hp in the 911E and 180 hp in the 911S
Despite the lower power of the 911E compared to the 911S, the 911E was quicker when accelerating up to 160 km/h.
The 911 2.2E presented was delivered new in California. It was fully restored in Germany between 2009 and 2010, in 2015 the running gear was overhauled.
2020: a major engine and gearbox overhaul was carried out as well as the installation of a stainless steel SSI exhaust, 4 adjustable Koni shock absorbers, a better anti-roll bar, uniball ball joints, 5 new tires, installation of a Momo steering wheel prototype. It is also fitted with adjustable RS-type seats.
This 911 is in very good condition, it is prepared to be used intensely without being too sharp, particularly in rallies or for any long distance trip.
The 911 2.2, particularly the E and S, due to their low production, are cars that are highly appreciated and sought after by connoisseurs.
