With the order number “356”, the young design office “Dr. Ing. h.c F. Porsche GmbH” inaugurated what was to become Porsche’s first mass-produced tourer. Although the concept was born in 1938, Germany’s entry into the war meant that Porsche had to contribute to the war effort. But it was not to be, and 10 years later, the little 356/1 was born. Produced from 1948 to 1965, the 356 is: 3 body styles, a dozen engines, a solid track record and an immense aura in the automotive world.
The B version was produced from 1960 to 1963. Equipped with the 4-cylinder 1.6L engine, it offered a basic power output of 60hp, which was later enhanced by the “Super 75” (75hp) and “Super 90” (90hp) versions. Its larger glass surface area than previous versions offers better visibility from the passenger compartment.
This Porsche 356B is one of these “Super 90” versions. Registered for the first time on July 22, 1960, the car is accompanied by an extensive file of photos tracing the work carried out on the running gear, upholstery and mechanics. The exhaust system with its slightly offset twin tailpipes gives it a sporty look. Its brown color makes it endearing. The mechanics run smoothly, and the soft top is in good condition. Light, cute and agile, this 356 “Super 90” with its beautiful patina will take you anywhere.
