Launched with great fanfare on April 17, 1964, the Ford Mustang launched the Pony car phenomenon. It is certainly one of the most recognizable and desirable cars in the history of the automobile.
It is the car of all records, more than 22,000 cars sold across the United States on the day of its launch.
The 1,000,000th sold after 18 months…none of these figures have ever been reached by any car before or after it.
The Mustang presented here is exceptional. Sold and delivered new in France on June 3, 1965 by the Ford dealership in Lille, it has since had only 2 other owners.
The 1st owner kept it from 1965 to 1994, the 2nd from 1994 to 2004 and the 3rd has owned it since.
100% matching numbers and colors, it has never been restored, the paint on its body is 98% original. Only the top of the right front fender was repainted following the fall of a small object.
The mechanics were completely overhauled in 2004 when the current owner purchased it. During this complete overhaul during which he completely opened the engine, they were able to see the high quality of the original internal organs.
Its mileage of 139,500 km is the original one, the mechanics are in perfect condition, it responds to the slightest request.
Equipped with the 289 code A V8 of 225 hp, it received as an option the 4-speed top loader gearbox and the double red-edged tires of the Mustang GT. These options correspond to the original build sheet.
The file includes the build sheet, the original invoice, the first French registration document, the certificate of originality from Ford France, a large number of technical photos of the mechanical overhaul and the life of the car as well as handwritten documents and lots of invoices.
The convertible top is recent and a large stock of parts is with the car.
This is the first time that I am able to offer a Mustang of European origin that has had so few owners in its original, never restored condition.
It is a model with great historical interest, very rare and a unique opportunity to possess one of the most legendary cars in automotive history still in its original form.
